Excerpt from the Chancellor\u00b4s letter on the passing away:<\/h5>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I have the sad duty to inform you of the passing of our Spiritual Councillor Fr Allan Hawkins, who passed away on 4 October at the age of 89 after a serious illness.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Fr Allan Hawkins studied theology at Cambridge and became a priest in the Anglican Church after completing his Master’s degree in 1961. In 1980, he accepted a call to be church rector in Arlington, Texas, where he entered into communion with the Catholic Church in 1991 in a history-making series of events with the resident Episcopal Church. In June 1994, the entire community was officially received into the Church and Father Hawkins was ordained a Catholic deacon and, going on, a priest.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

After a lifelong friendship with HIRH Otto von Habsburg, Fr Allan Hawkins was received into the Spiritual Council of the Order of St George in Budapest, Hungary in 2019. Despite the distance and time difference, he often participated in the Order’s events via video conferencing and remained in close contact with the Order, to which he was a proud and wholehearted member, even during the period of his serious illness.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To the relatives – Fr Allan is survived by his wife and their two children – and to all those close to him, I extend my and our sincere condolences.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
