Dipl.-Ing. Hanns Eduard Feichtner

† 11.09.2026

Excerpt from the Chancellor´s message on the passing away:

It is with deep sadness and sincere condolences that I have to inform you that our former Commander of the Commandery Salzburg/Oberösterreich/Bayern – Hohensalzburg, our Knight of the Order Senator Dipl.-Ing. Hanns Eduard Feichtner, passed away on Friday, 11 September 2026, surrounded by his family in Linz, aged 84.

The deceased was invested during the Order’s Convention in St. Pölten in 2014, appointed Vice-Commander in Vienna in 2016, and named Commander of the Commandery of Salzburg/Oberösterreich/Bayern – Hohensalzburg in Kufstein in 2017. His clear commitment to the Order of St George, to its Christian-European mission and to the Archhouse made Hanns Feichtner a valued discussion partner, a valuable voice of conscience and a dynamic driving force behind the work of the Commandery and the Order.

Our Knight of the Order was born in Linz, the son of the export merchant Dr. Max Feichtner and his wife Lieselotte, born von Eltz. After completing his school-leaving qualifications and studying mining engineering at the Montan University Leoben, he began his professional career in 1966 in plant engineering at VOEST-Alpine AG, where he ultimately served as Head of the Mineral Technology Department and, from 1981, as Managing Director at Korf Engineering – later known as Deutsche VOEST-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau in Düsseldorf – where he was responsible for numerous large-scale plant construction projects worldwide. In 1990, our Knight of the Order founded his own general planning and project development company in Düsseldorf, Passau and Linz, acting as managing partner.

We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Maria, who had been a vital source of support to him both personally and professionally since their wedding in 1967, to their children, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Eva Eberhartinger and Prof. Thomas Feichtner, and to the whole family.
