Excerpt from the Chancellor’s letter on the passing away:
It is my sad duty to inform you all of the passing of our esteemed Knight of the Order, General Eugene Marchuk (Commandery International), who passed away in Kiev on 5 August 2021. Eugene was an extraordinary personality and, as the architect of the “Minsk Agreement”, worked at all levels for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. He served his country until old age and was highly respected by all political forces.
Knight Marchuk was a personal friend of our Grand Master and lived the values and convictions of the Order. With him we lose not only a remarkable pro-European politician who worked for peace, but above all a true friend of the Order.
