Excerpt from the message on the passing away:
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of our Dame of Honour, Countess Maria Cäcilia Trauttmansdorff-Weinsberg, born Countess of Meran, who passed away on 26 July 2026 at the age of 101.
With her death, Austria has lost a figure who lived her long life with deep Christian conviction, a strong sense of family ties and an awareness of her historical responsibility.
As a Dame of Honour of the Order of St George of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine – she was admitted to our community in Neuberg on 30 April 2011 – she was deeply committed to the Christian-European heritage and the ideals of the Order. Her life was characterised by modesty, faith and loyalty to her convictions. She will be fondly remembered by her family, her friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
My deepest condolences, and those of our entire Order, go out to her family and loved ones. May she rest in peace.
