Excerpt from the Chancellor’s letter on the passing away:
With great sadness we have received news of the passing of our highly esteemed Honorary Knight H.E. Max Turnauer. A personality, who left his mark beyond the borders of Austria, was called home to eternity on November 7, 2020, at the age of 90, provided with the consolations of the Holy Church.
In H.E. Max Turnauer we lose a person who throughout his life has stood up for Christian values, a pro-European attitude and the fight against eightfold misery in a truly chivalrous spirit.
His attachment to the archducal house found visible expression in his appointment as an Honorary Knight of the Order of St. George – A European Order of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine on October 1, 2011 in Salzburg Cathedral.
