Book presentation ‘Teenage terrorists’

18 June 2026
Order Residence, Rennweg 10, 1030 Vienna, Austria
Start: 7.00 pm

Whether it be the terrorist attack on Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna, which was fortunately prevented, or other attacks in Europe – some of which, sadly, have been successful – terrorists are increasingly teenagers. This is a real phenomenon that is seriously undermining our security and the very foundations of our society.

Dr. Florian Hartleb, who has been scientifically researching and publishing on the subject of extremism for many years, has written a new book in which he analyses how young people in our midst are being seduced and radicalised, the appeal of ideologies and conspiracy theories, and the role played by social media and gaming platforms in this process. And what we can and must do about it.

We are particularly delighted that Claudia Bauer, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family, will be joining us and will open the evening with an introductory statement.

Enquete: The 12 September – A question of attitude

11 September 2026
Enquete on Europe’s security and defence between tradition and the future
Modul University Vienna, Am Kahlenberg 1, 1190 Vienna, Austria
Start: 3.00 pm

Following the successful pilot event organised by the Order of St George last year, we are continuing with this format this year in cooperation with the MCC, the institution behind the Modul University. We can look forward to high-profile keynote speakers and panellists – further details will follow in the next newsletter.

Our Order’s involvement in this is closely linked to our Grand Master’s participation in the church commemoration, which the rector of St Joseph’s Church at Kahlenberg has been successfully organising for decades in cooperation with partners.

We wish to make long-term use of this symbolic site on Kahlenberg and the anniversary of the liberation of 1683 to reflect on the past, the present and the future, to ask how we in Europe can overcome current conflicts and ensure peace and freedom, restore political stability and confidence in politics and the rule of law, and strengthen European unity in our diversity and differences, despite all our diverging opinions.

Friendship trip to Tur Abdin
Dames of the Order of St. Georges

Sometimes there are places that feel as if time has stood still there. Tur Abdin in southeastern Turkey, on the border with Syria and not far from the border with Iraq, is one such place – a landscape full of silence, ancient monasteries, and living traditions.

After our Grand Master Karl von Habsburg visited Tur Abdin in August 2020, the Dames of the Order organized their first trip to Tur Abdin in August 2023, and the next trip is planned for 26 – 30 August 2026, under the patronage of HIRH Karl von Habsburg.

Under the guidance of Ap. Prof. Dr. Aho Shemunkasho, who comes from Tur Abdin and speaks Syrian Aramaic, this will not be an ordinary sightseeing tour, but a journey of encounters and inspiration.
