Panel discussion: Europe in a time of multiple crisis

The traditional year-end event will once again be held in form of a panel discussion, this year focussing on Europe in a time of multiple crises.
The discussants will examine the topic from different professional perspectives and then engage in discourse with us. Among them, of course, our Grand Master Archduke Karl again, as well as other competent personalities, such as the well-known German journalist and author Alexander Wendt, the President of the Society for Crisis Prevention (GfKV), Herbert Saurugg, MSc, former Ambassador Dr Wendelin Ettmayer, an expert on a central issue of European security and economic policy, who has just published his latest book ‘Europe and the USA – The Transatlantic Relationship on Trial’, as well as the outgoing EU Commissioner Dr. Johannes Hahn (requested). The evening will be moderated in the proven manner by TV professional Jürgen Peindl (known, among other things, from n-tv).
This year’s event will also be held in a TV studio and broadcast live online in two languages (German and English) so that our Dames and Knights of the Order throughout Europe can participate.
The Chancellery will, of course, send out detailed information and a registration form in good time. Since interest in this format is usually particularly grand, we recommend registering early!
Benefit concert and Christmas party of the Order

At the beginning of Advent, the Dames of the Order of St. George are once again organising their grand benefit concert at the mdw, this time not only in cooperation with the Viennese and Lower Austrian Commanderies and the Commandery Burgenland, but also combined with the Order’s Christmas party.

Book presentation ‘Earthly Jerusalem: On the Sacred and the Difficult’

Knight of the Order Mag. Markus St. Bugnyar, Rector of the Austrian Pilgrim Hospice in Jerusalem looks at the city of Jesus, where the three monotheistic religions meet in a very small space. At this focal point of political conflicts with global repercussions, the sacred and the difficult collide unfiltered, igniting religious and cultural disputes as well as forms of unexpectedly fruitful coexistence.
After the book presentation, we will round off the last event of this year with hot punch, mulled wine and biscuits
