Commemoration of the Roman-German Emperor in Italy

The Italian Commandery (Commander Massimiliano Lacota) organised the first commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the death of Emperor Maximilian I on Saturday January 12, 2019 in Cormons (eastern Friuli). A wreath of flowers was laid in front of the statue of Maximilian I at 4 p.m. and then a Holy Mass was celebrated in the old rite in the church there. This was followed by a concert of the “Banda Città di Cormons”.

Emperor Maximilian I died on 12 January 1519 at Wels Castle in Upper Austria, exactly 500 years before the commemoration ceremony.
