On the day of the Queen’s funeral, September 19, 2022, the Commandery of Great Britain and Northern Ireland hosted a virtual memorial service, in the course of which not only her work was looked back on, but also her successor King Charles III was discussed. A special highlight of the evening was the personal introduction of this great Queen by our Grand Master, who had joined us live from London. In addition to members of the Order’s government, Honorary Knight Prime Minister (ret.) Jan Pieter Balkenende, Commander David Mackintosh was also able to welcome numerous Commanderies, Vice-Commanders, Dames and Knights of the Order from almost all Commanderies. This circumstance not only underlined the importance of the Queen across all borders, but also the European dimension of our community.
